Iran, Russia should intensify anti-terrorism coop.

TEHRAN, Apr. 14 (MNA) – Iran’s FM, Mohammad Javad Zarif, met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Friday in Moscow.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who arrived at the head of a diplomatic delegation in Moscow on Friday morning and met with Syrian FM Walid Muallem first, met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov afterward.

Following the two bilateral meetings, the foreign ministers of Iran, Syria, and Russia will share the same table to have a trilateral meeting. The diplomats will discuss the latest developments in Syria, the unilateral attack of US on Syrian government, and the political solution of the six-year-old crisis in the Arab country.

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow, Mehdi Sanie, and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari accompany Mr. Zarif in his meetings.

Referring to the agenda of his visit to Moscow, Mr. Zarif stressed on the political solution of the crisis in Syria and cutting the foreign interference in the Arab country.

“I want to repeat my condolences over the terrorist attack to Saint Petersburg and reiterate that we should fight terrorism with strengthened international cooperation,” noted the top diplomat of Iran during the meeting with his Russian counterpart.

He also underlined that war on terrorism should be a true war on terrorism and not just a symbolic war. “On the other hand, the accusation of chemical weapon use by Syria government should be annulled and instead a serious investigation should be carried out.”

Discussing how to follow up and implement the agreements reached between Iran and Russia during the visit of President Rouhani to Moscow was another part of the talks between Zarif and Lavrov.
